Camp Delafield

Helps keep reading skills sharp
during the summer break

Since 1990 Camp Delafield has provided:

  • Intense daily academic remediation
  • Stimulating field trips
  • Great summer fun
  • Chances to make new friends

Camp Delafield’s approach is to teach the “whole child” –
academics, self esteem, social skills and motivation. Campers return to school with a more positive outlook and renewed dedication to their studies.

“Camp Delafield Makes Successful Move To Jenn Family Park”

In the summer of 2004, Camp Delafield re-located to beautiful, serene Jenn Family Park. Located on the east side of Indianapolis in Lawrence, Indiana, near Fort Benjamin Harrison, Jenn Family Park offers easy access from I-465, and a summer of fun filled activities and adventure.

CAMP DELAFIELD 2007

What an exciting year at Camp Delafield! The summer included many of our traditional camp activities, with the incorporation of several new programs which deserve to be highlighted.

Of course, no summer at Camp Delafield would be complete without:
  • The overnight campout-complete with shaving cream fight, campfire and the world’s largest ice cream sundae
  • Fun family picnic
  • Afternoon activity clubs, including fishing, archery, tie-dye, spy club and water games
  • Field trips to the pool, area museums, roller skating and more!
  • Collaboration with Theater of Inclusion for a two week residency that builds gross and fine motor skills through various artistic media
  • Intensive language remediation using one-on-one Orton Gillingham teaching, the cornerstone of the Camp Delafield program
This year's program includes:
  • A rope challenge course at an area school that incorporated team-building and new ways to overcome personal obstacles
  • Interpersonal and Social Skills Development
  • Enhancement of the written expression program using the Framing Your Thoughts Curriculum
  • Drama, Creative Writing and Poetry including a Friday Poetry Slam where campers recited favorite as well as original poetry at a weekly awards ceremony
  • An enhanced visual arts program that included silk painting, watercolor and puppet-making

Thank you to our staff, campers, families and volunteers who make every year at Camp Delafield an exciting experience that gives our kids confidence in their abilities to learn and be successful at whatever they do!
